THIS "PROOF OF CONCEPT" (BETA) CALCULATOR IS DESIGNED USING BEEF AND LAMB NZ PUBLISHED FEED REQUIREMENT INFORMATION. THE RESEARCH INFORMATION PUBLISHED AS TABLES HAS BEEN FORMULISED.
  Accuracy
Our "testing" various liveweight/weight gain scenarios against the published information suggests an accuracy level of plus or minus 5% in most instances.  To get this in context in relation to its intended use, the base enteric fermentation emissions factors have an uncertainty level of plus or minus 16%.  The pasture assessment (KgDM per hectare) and its energy value are also important components in these calculations (with the base being 10.8 MjME per kgDM) but estimating either for a given farming enterprise to within 10% to 15% is extremely unlikely.

In summary, we believe that this calculator could be a game changer in feed planning as well as for GHG emissions calculations.
